HOW TO USE THE CREDIT CARD PAYOFF CALCULATOR

This free credit card payoff calculator estimates how long it may take to pay off your balance and how much interest you may pay.

HOW TO GET STARTED

  1. Enter your current credit card balance.

  2. Enter the card’s annual percentage rate (APR).

  3. Enter the amount you plan to pay each month.

  4. Add any extra monthly payment you can afford.

  5. Select Calculate to view your estimated payoff results.

HOW THE CALCULATOR WORKS

Interest is added to your credit card balance each month. Your payment first covers the interest, and the remaining amount reduces your balance.

Paying more than the minimum payment can help you pay off the card sooner and reduce the total interest you pay.

EXAMPLE

Suppose you have a $5,000 credit card balance with a 21% APR.

You can compare a $150 monthly payment with a $250 monthly payment. The calculator will show how increasing your payment may shorten your payoff time and lower your total interest.

UNDERSTANDING YOUR RESULTS

Estimated Payoff Time: The approximate number of months needed to pay off the balance.

Estimated Payoff Date: The approximate date your balance could reach zero.

Total Interest: The estimated amount of interest paid during the payoff period.

Total Amount Paid: Your original balance plus the estimated interest.

Monthly Payment: The amount you plan to pay toward the card each month.

WAYS TO PAY OFF A CREDIT CARD FASTER

Pay more than the required minimum whenever possible.

Avoid adding new charges while paying down the balance.

Apply extra income, refunds, or bonuses toward the balance.

Review your progress regularly and adjust your payment when your budget allows.

SAVING YOUR RESULTS

If the calculator provides a Save or Download option, you may use it to keep a copy of your results. Review the saved information regularly because interest rates, payments, and balances can change.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

This calculator provides estimates for educational and planning purposes only. Actual results may differ because of changing interest rates, fees, new purchases, payment timing, and your card issuer’s calculation methods.
